About Cambridge Mentoring Services

Cambridge Mentoring Services is a small, local social enterprise. We believe in the huge benefits of mentoring for rehabilitation, and we have devised our programme based on a wealth of experience in the area. Evidence shows that mentoring is effective in breaking the cycle of re-offending and achieving positive life outcomes.

Between us, we have many decades of experience in Probation, social services, mentoring and education:

Morgan O’ Flynn has worked in Probation over the last decade in London and Cambridge; he has specialised in working with prolific offenders, those subject to integrated offender management arrangements, high risk offenders, and offenders with substance misuse problems. Additionally, Morgan has worked in the courts and has written pre sentence reports on offenders. He also guest lectures in Criminology at London Metropolitan University.

Alex Shaw worked for 9 years with high-risk young people, including young offenders, specialising in mental health and learning difficulties. He has worked with local authorities, supported housing, and has run training and life skill programmes, supporting individuals into work and education.

Dr John McWilliams is on the steering committee of the Bill McWilliams Memorial Lecture for Probation, and has created and run a large student mentoring scheme in the UK Higher Education sector.
